Class of 2008

Roger had a wrestling, hockey and sandlot football background and a chance encounter with the BGSU RFC’s earliest practices prompted him to switch “codes”. His 17 year long playing career followed the traditional path of the aging rugger, going from wing to scrum half and on to flanker and finally ending up at hooker. He notes that has outlasted seven U.S. Presidents and he started playing back in the era when wings threw in the ball at lineouts and tries were still three points. Roger finished his 23 year long career as head coach of the team last April with a 56 – 24 pasting of Notre Dame University. He posted a 1285 – 216 - 47 record with 23 straight MAC championships, eight National Championship trips and four Midwest titles. He will continue as BG’s chief fund raiser and recruiter.
